13C NMR Spectroscopy Flashcards
1
Q
What is broad band NMR Spectroscopy?
A
Protons are decoupled. All hydrogens are wiped out to make singlets. Number of peaks equals to the number of carbons.
2
Q
What is ORD NMR Spectroscopy?
A
Off Resonance decoupling. Only allows 1J coupling. You will only see quartet (CH3), triplet (CH2), doublet (CH), singlet (C)
3
Q
13C DEPT?
A
Never shows quantenary carbons (never see C=O)
4
Q
135 DEPT?
A
Shows CH2 as down peaks and CH3/CH as up peaks.
5
Q
90 DEPT?
A
Only shows methines (CH). Methyls (CH3) disappear.
6
Q
What is around 120-160 DEPT?
A
Benzene. C=C alkene
