Aesthetics, Function, Economic manufacturer.
What is meant by Aesthetics?
The way a product looks, in order to catch the eye of the consumer.
What is meant by function?
The purpose a product has been designed for.
What is meant by economic manufacturer (cost)?
How much it will cost to produce a product.
How can social trends change the design mix?
New aesthetics may have an increase in demand.
What is bespoke design?
A product is custom made/designed such as a wedding cake or customised wedding. These products/services also usually charge a premium price.
What is standard design?
Products or services that are sold as standard, with no extra features.
How can ‘efficiencies’ be achieved?
Changing the types of materials used or by updating the technology used in production.
How can businesses protect the environment?
Recycling, Re-using, ethical sourcing.
What are the benefits to a business of being environmentally friendly?
Green-minded consumers will be willing to pay a premium price, Pressure groups will not damage the reputation of the business.
What are the disadvantages to a business of being environmentally friendly?
Production may cost more, may be hard to find consumers willing to pay a premium price.
