What is visual impairment?
inability to see clearly, you can still have poor vision but not fulfill the criteria for being registered
What is visual aquity?
the ability of the eye to see detail
How is distance aquity tested?
the Snellen chart at 6m, rows of letters decreasin in size labelled 60, 36, 24, 18, 12, 9, 6, 5…
How can you get visual impairment registration in the UK?
have to referred by an ophtalmologist, depending on how far down you see on the Snellen chart and your field of vision
What are the categories of visual impairment?
Severely Sight Impaired (blind)
Sight Impaired
this is based on the vision in the better seeing eye
What is the registration of visual impairment in the UK called?
Certificate of Vision Impairment (CVI)
What might cause moderate field contraction?
medial opacities
aphakia
What might cause a marked field defect?
homonymous hemianopia

uncorrected refracted error

infection with bacterium chlamydia trachomatis
