1.3 measuring emotion Flashcards

subcortical structures meet the cerebral cortex. influencing the endocrine system and the ANS. amygdala is key
Amygdala involvement
Key in the limbic system

Autonomous Nervous System
responsible for subconscious control of bodily functions

peripheral/autonomic nervous system
central nervous system
behaviour
dimensions of emotion
not just how positive or negative (VALANCE) but how much. arousal corresponds to how much physiology occurs.
ecstatic = more arousal = feel more compared to feeling pleasant.
when measuring emotion - valance and arousal are separate dimensions = variety of techniques used
approach - avoidance conflict
occurs when a goal has both positive and negative aspects = approach and avoidance reactions at the same time
