At this time, Christianity was the main religion and was taken very seriously with regards to crime.
How powerful was the king from 1250 - 1500?
The king did have some power, expected to ensure law was enforced, but was not powerful or rich enough to control everything.
What were the three main groups of society in the period in medieval Britain?
Society was structured into three groups; the clergy, the lords and everyone else.
Who would be considered part of the clergy during the years 1250 - 1500?
The clergy was composed of anyone who worked in the church (priests, monks, nuns etc.)
What were the counties that England was divided into called in 1250 - 1500?
The counties were called shires.
What was the name for the person that oversaw any given shire?
Someone who oversaw a shire was called a sheriff.
What were different areas of a shire called?
Smaller areas of shires were called hundreds.
What were the hundreds broken down into?
Hundreds were broken down into very small sections called parishes.
In which century was the war of the roses?
The war of the roses was in the 15th century.
When did the barons rebel against the king during the period 1250 - 1500?
The barons rebelled very early in this period, during the mid 13th century.
When did the peasants revolt take place?
The peasants revolt was during the late 14th century.
When was the printing press invented, and how did this affect medieval Britain?
The printing press was invented in 1476, so documentation of this period was very inconsistent.
