Q

You already know how to use the future construction ir + a + infinitive. It is often used in spoken Spanish and generally refers to something that will happen in the near future. It is also common to use the present tense to express near future.

A

Voy a pescar en el lago este fin de semana.
I’m going to fish at the lake this weekend.

Salgo para las montañas mañana.
I’m leaving for the mountains tomorrow.

Q

Another way to express what will happen is to use the future tense; however, it tends to be a little more formal and is generally used to refer to a more distant future. To form the future tense, add the endings to the infinitive (rather than to the verb stem, as is done with most other verb tenses). Note that -ar, -er, and -ir verbs take the same endings.

A

-ar, -er -ir endings
yo: -é
