1832 Great Reform Act
Extended the vote to middle class men by reducing property qualifications. Increased electorate from 400,000 to 650,000 (5% of population) Excluded working class men and women
1867 Second Reform Act
Expanded the vote to urban working class men who met property requirements (electorate of 2 million)
1884 Third Reform Act
Extended voting rights to rural working class men. (nearly 60% of adult males could vote)
1918 Representation of the People Act
Granted suffrage to all men over 21 and women over 30 (if they met property requirements) Electorate increased from 8 million to 21 million
1928 Representation of the People Act
Established equal suffrage for men and women (all over 21 could vote) Women gained full electoral equality with men
1969 Representation of the People Act
Lowered the voting age to 18.
