Largely due to religion both the Bible and Quran state adultery is a sin so cultures that follow these religions strictly class it as a crime. it could also relate to how women are viewed in certain societies some cultures view women as owned by their husbands and so treated as their property, so any wrongdoing against them is a crime.

Crimes committed on a family member who has brought shame on the family, such as murder, abduction, acid attacks, mutilations and assault’s.

Why do laws varies in different cultures ( Honour crimes)
In some cultures, bringing shame upon the family is deemed as a terrible offence, that the family believe is right to punish therefore this is the appropriate way for a family to deal with dishonour. It is seen as the norm is some traditional Asian cultures, a practise that has been rooted in their culture for so long nobody feels able to challenge it.
