Reflection is when a wave ‘bounces’ off something.

where light traveling towards a surface in one direction is all reflected in a single direction
.This is the type of reflection that happens on a flat (plane) mirror.

Diffuse reflection: When light is reflected off a surface in all directions. This happens on non-shiny surfaces.
