12-lead ch.3 Flashcards
1
Q
What is a vector?
A
Amounts of energy and their direction.
2
Q
The EKG is a measurement of ________ as they pass under the electrode
A
vectors
3
Q
How do we see positive vs negative vectors on an EKG in waves?
A
Positive electrical impulses move away from the electrode and give a downward deflection. When a positive electrical force is moving toward an electrode, it is recorded at an upward deflection.
4
Q
What are vectors useful for on the EKG? Pathology?
A
Determining hypertrophies, axis deviations (hemiblocks), fluid around the heart (small vectors).
5
Q
Draw Einthovens Triangle and hexaxial wheel
