What are the two types of discrimination?

A

Direct discrimination:

A person (A) discriminates against another (B) if, because of a protected characteristic, A treats B less favourably than A treats or would treat others.

Indirect discrimination:

A policy, practice or rule which applies to everybody in the same way but places people who share a protected characteristic at a disadvantage.
