Development refers to the progressive changes that occur as a result of maturation and learning it is qualitative in nature.

A
Developmental tasks occur at various development stages and must be achieved for the optimal development. Learning the task characteristic of one stage leads to greater chances of success in learning the tasks of the next stages.
