1.2 Flashcards
intro to bio
Level 2 - What is the relationship between metric prefixes and base units?
The metric prefixes and the base units are the same thing in different forms like for example Kilo stands for K.
Level 2 - How many milligrams are in 1g?
0.001 milligrams
Level 1 - What is the difference between mass and volume?
Volume is how much space the object or thing takes up and mass is how much matter a given object has.
Level 1 - How do you calculate mean, medium/average?
Mean/average - Add all of them up and divide how many numbers there are.
Median - Sort the numbers in least to greatest and the number in the middle is your medium. If you have a even amount of numbers find the 2 numbers in the middle and add them both together then divide by 2.
Level 2 - What is the dependent variable?
The factor that is measured in an experiment and will change as a result of the independent variable.
Level 2 - What is the independent variable?
The factor that is varied in an experimenter and specifically controlled by the experimenter
Level 3- What is a direct relationship?
Both variables increase together
Level 1 - Where do the independent and dependent variables go on the graph?
Independent goes on the x-axis and dependent goes on the y-axis.
Level 3 - What is a indirect relationship?
As one variable increases the other decreases
Level 3 - What is a consent relationship?
Change in one variable has no effect on the other
Level 2 - How to calculate standard deviation?
Find the mean
Find the variance - see how much each object is far from the mean
then square it
then divide by how many numbers there are.
Level 1 - What is the difference between interpolation and extrapolation?
interpolation is the viewer making predictions within the recorded data and extrapolation is the viewer making predictions about data not yet recorded.
