Q

6 Steps of Binary Fission

A
  1. DNA molecule (circular) is attached by proteins to the inner membrane.
  2. DNA replication begins at the origin and proceeds bidirectionally around circle.
  3. New DNA is attached to inner membrane near the origin
  4. As cell elongates, the DNA attachment sites separate.
  5. A constriction forms at the midpoint
  6. The synthesis of new cell membrane and cell wall separates the two daughter cells.
