11. Last time week 5 Flashcards
Match the amphibian with its PRINCIPAL form of reproductive strategy
Terrestrial Caudata (or Urodela) - Internal fertilization by collecting sperm through her cloak.
Gymnophiona (or Apoda) - Internal fertilization. they are oviparous and viviparous.
Anura (or Salienta) - External fertilization. Amplexus is when the male frogs try to be more than one to fertilize the eggs. They make a pile.
Why is the amphibian circulation model inefficient compared to mammals and reptiles?
Because they only have three chambers. In this way oxygenated and deoxygenated blood is mixed, which is really inefficient.
But they also oxygenate the blood through their skin.
In the transition of tetrapods to the terrestrial enviroment, what were the main advantages to animals with longer, stronger legs?
It lifted them of the ground, so the gravity didn´t destroy their boides.
It maked them able to breath through lungs.
Maked them able to go to land and exploide the terristoral enviroment, which was much richer then the aquatic.
Paedomorphosis
The continued possesion of special larvea traits (characteristics) into later lige
Progenesis
You are able to reproduce with a larvae body. Speed up reproduction, because the acceeleration of sexual parts ar faster the other developping body parts.
neotony
The other kind, reproduction develop normally, but the body develops slowly.
Histotrophic viviparity
- The young eat their siblings inside the mother
Haemotriphic viviparty
The mother are feating the ofspring with some kind of nutrition fx unfertilzed eggs.
