What is Computer Hardware?
Collection of physcial parts of a computer system.
What is an Input Device?
A device that allows the user to communicate with the computer.
What is an Output Device?
A device that allows the computer to comunicate with the user.
Keyboard
One of the most common ways of inputting data into a computer.
Mouse
A point and click device that allows the user to comunicate with the computer through a cursor.
Scanner
A device that converts a document or photograph into a digital file to be stored on a computer.
Sensors
Physical devices such as thermometers, motion sensors and mics that enable the computer to decide if an action will be made.
Microphone
Record instructions from user for those who cannot use a keyboard.
Graphics Tablet
This can be used in a similar way to a keyboard by tapping on icons.
Visual Display Unit (VDU)
Displays information that the user inputs onto the computer screen.
Barcode Reader
Handheld device used to capture information from a barcode by using a light source, scanner or decoder.
Printers
A machine used to print paper (hard) copies of documents and images.
Plotters
Large scale printers used in the commercial industry for bigger products.
Speakers & Headphones
Both provide sound to the user.
Speakers provide this to the room
Headphones provide this to the user.
Braille Terminal
Specialist Reader for visually impared users which displays text through individual cells on the terminal.
