1.1 changes in energy stores Flashcards
What can energy be stored in?
Energy can be stored in a variety of different energy stores
How is energy transferred?
Energy is transferred by heating ,by waves ,by an electric current or by a force when it moves an object
What happens to the energy store of an object when it falls and gains speed?
When an object falls and gain speed, it sort of gravitational potential energy decreases and it’s kinetic energy store increases
What happens when a folding object hits the ground without bouncing back?
When the falling object hits the ground without bouncing back, it’s kinetic energy store decreases
Where does the energy transfer to when a falling object hit the ground?
Some are all of its energy is transferred to the surroundings - the thermal energy store of the surrounding increases (energy is also transferred by sound waves)
What a chemical energy stores?
Chemical energy stores include fuels ,foods or the chemicals found in batteries
How is chemical energy transferred?
Chemical energy is transferred during chemical reactions
What is kinetic energy?
Kinetic energy is the energy store an object has because it is moving
What is gravitational potential energy?
Gravitational potential energy is the energy stored in an object because of his position ,such as an object above the ground
What is elastic potential energy?
Elastic potential energy is the energy stored in a springy object when you stretch or squash it
What is thermal energy?
Some more energy stores is the energy of substance has because of its temperature
