What is instrument flight?
A series of basic instrument maneuvers flown in a sequence that depends on route, weather, traffic congestion, and other factors
Instrument slow flight parameters
110-120 KIAS Gear - down Flaps - T/O Attitude - 3 degrees nose high 0-30 degrees AOB
Steep turn parameters
Airspeed - 150 KIAS
Attitude - 45/60 degrees of bank
Vertical S parameters
Airspeed - 150 KIAS
VSI - 1,000 FPM
What is an unusual attitude?
Any unexpected or inadvertent attitude encountered during normal instrument flight
Intercept a course inbound
Course to bearing +30 not to exceed 90
Intercept a course outbound
Tail to course +45 not to exceed the head of the bearing pointer
What does WANTS stand for?
Weather Activate NOTAMS TOLD SID/STAR/SELF
How do you determine cruise altitude?
10% of the distance to find cruise altitude
What do you do if you are lost?
Climb
Conserve
