11-214 Flashcards
Who can view MFD, HUD, JHMCS?
It’s FOUO. F-16 Block 30 will not share w Block 40. F-15A-D will not share w F-15 E.
*Exception: same FRU or qual in both blocks
What items do you need for check-in with controlling agency?
C/S, authentication,devs/aborts, weapons system alibis
What other items might aircrew check in with?
Air to air armament (“2x2xGUNS”)
Air to sfc armament (aa fragged or changes)
Fuel status of PLAYTIME
When on recovery what info should you provide?
C/S, loc, recovery base, PLAYTIME and ordnance if can take on other ATO, mission results/intel
What are the 5 continuums of control?
1) Close ctrl-target and commit info provided to specific flights w vectors and alt
2) . Tactical ctrl-target and commit info provided to specific flights but aircrew responsible own tac positioning
3) . Broadcast ctrl-tgt info provided but not to specific flights but aircrew responsible own tac positioning
4) . Advisory ctrl-radar tgt info not avail and not provided, aircrew responsible own tac positioning
5) . Autonomous Ops-comm not avail, aircrew responsible own tac positioning
What is procedural vs positive ctrl methods?
Procedural is adherence to publ proc w real time changes
Positive is relying on radar, other sensors, data links to provide SA
What is min spacing bw ac in a G-x?
6000’
When should you do a G-x?
If have a G-suit anytime going to be above 5 G’s
Without G-suit anytime above 4 G’s
When call “KIO”?
Safety of flight is factor: Dangerous sit developing Unbriefed/unsched flight entering MOA Wx below mins AC malfunction Loss of SA DLOs are not attainable in a whole scenario
D B U M W L D
When call Terminate?
Bingo reached
Objectives met or unattainable for local engagement
Trng rules or limits met
Min alt, min range below, min speed under 5000’ A but not unsafe
BOTM
What is min alt for flare/smokey devils employment?
Attain fire conditions. If no fire hzd, down to mins If fire hzd, according to V3, range regs whichever more restrictive, smokey devils lim to 500'A VECP SD min alt 300'A Otherwise if not over govt owned 2000'A
What is max dive angle during low alt (below 5000’)?
Lesser of 45 deg or 1% of AGL alt
What are the lighting category definitions?
Full-up: normal per 11-202V3 Reduced: any lighting not full-up -covert: night light visible through NVGs -lights-out: all ext lights out
What is high and low illumination?
High- at or greater than 2.2 millilux
Low- below 2.2 millilux
What are NVG min alt?
With high illum, 1000’ AGL (non terrain following/avoidance)
With low illum, MSA
Only conduct IMC trng above what altitude?
5000’ AGL or MSA whichever is higher
What are max bank and pitch for IMC?
90 deg of bank, 30 deg of pitch (15 for inexp).
FTU students 60 deg bank, 15 deg pitch
During VMC what must aircrew do?
Use all available sensors to clear flight path with see and avoid
What are the preferred methods of pre-mission brief?
Face to face
Then telephonic, email or teleconference
When do you use day vs night procedures during civil twilight?
Normally day procedures. Night when adverse conditions exist during civil twilight
What mins can be used when wearing NVGs and doing TF ops?
Can use low illum mins so lower of 1000’ AGL or MEA
Manned aircraft should maintain what separation from unmanned assets? After contact is established, what lateral separation can be used?
1000’ vertical or 5 NM lateral separation
2 NM lateral separation
What should you assume when comms are lost with RPAs?
That they’re lost link
When doing IMC maneuvering and then done with the maneuver, what should aircrew do?
Go to 0 deg bank and pitch to reestablish horizon.
Whose responsibility is it to maintain lateral airspace limits? Vertical?
Both ABM/WD and aircrew
Only aircrew
When should ADB/WD advise about aircraft that may be a factor? MOA borders?
Hazardous aircraft within 10 NM.
3 NM from borders for fighters
When can you fly with live air-to-air missiles?
a) . Air defense
b) . WSEP, operational test and evaluation program
c) . Aircraft flown after generation ex.
d) . As authorized by MAJCOM
When flying with live air-to-air missiles, what must be done?
Must make “WEAPONS SAFE” call on initial check-in and before each setup
Master Arm must stay SAFE and be verified
Do not simulate weapons employment, squeeze the trigger, or press the pickle button
Max maneuvering category is LIMITED
Do not use terms “HOSTILE” or “KILL” unless acknowledging a kill call
With simulated gun employment, what must you do?
- Have no ammo loaded or safe gun
- Perform trigger check before gun employment
How can you simulate missile employment with a gun which isn’t safe?
- Place master arm in SAFE
- Load no live missiles
- Verify through HUD that master arm SAFE
- Do not squeeze the trigger
- Do not conduct BFM
Can lasers be used above the horizon?
Only with AN/AAQ-33 SNIPER Advanced TPOD and AN/AAQ-28 LITENING in eye safe training mode
Can laser-equipped aircraft use the combat laser setting?
No during peacetime missions unless OG/CC approves it.
When must you perform operations checks?
Prior to each engagement or periodically during vulnerability period
When does an engagement begin?
When opposing aircraft initiates visual maneuvers against each other
What determines the maneuvering category?
Aircraft at the lowest altitude
What is UNLIMITED restrictions?
No limitations. Min alt is 5000’ AGL. Weather needed 521–5 NM visibility, 2000’ vertical, 1 NM horizontal and discernible horizon
What is LIMITED restrictions?
No restrictions pre-merge for offensive/neutral aircraft then:
- Continues until role reversal
- KIO or terminate
- Defender reaches 180 deg turn at start of threat reaction excluding maneuvers into and out of the notch
- If neither aircraft can be called defender, terminate after first aircraft reaches 180 deg of turn after 3/9 line passage
What is considered a defender?
Aircraft reacting visually to another aircraft behind their 3/9 line
