legal definition of crime
Behaviour which breaks the law and is punishable by the legal state. It must have 2 elements: Actus Reus (the guilty act) and the Mens Rea (the guilty mind). There are 2 types of offences: summary (less serious) and indictable (more serious)
social definition of crime
Sometimes a crime/act is labelled from ‘social interaction’ or doing wrong against a community. If a society has said that act is a crime, it will become one. This is due to different views, law enforcement and law making.

custodial, community, fines, discharge
norms
social expectations that guide our behaviour and can explain why people act the way they do
values
shared by most people in a culture. What people feel should happen. more general guidelines than norms.
moral code
good ways to behave. Set of basic rules and breaking them would be considered serious in society.
