1.1 Flashcards
Components of environments:
Individual, population, community, ecosystem, biome.
Individual
One organism.
Population
A group of individuals in the same species.
Community
All the living organisms in an area.
Ecosystem
Biological community of all living (biotic) and nonliving (abiotic) factors.
Biome
A large biological community/area that has formed in response to environmental factors.
Types of organism interactions
Competition, predation, mutualism, commensalism, parasitism
Competition
Organisms fighting over a resource like food or shelter; -/-
Predation
Organisms using (eating) others for an energy source +/-
Mutualism
A relationship that benefits both organims; +/+
Commensalism
A relationship that benefits one organism but does not affect the other.
Parasitism
A relationship where one organism uses another as a host for energy without killing the host; +/-
