1st Rule of First Aid

2nd Rule of First Aid
Unless contraindicated make your preliminary examination in the position and place you find the victim.
3rd Rule of First Aid
In a multi-victim situation, limit your preliminary survey to observing for airway patency, breathing, and circulation, the ABCs of basic life support.
4th Rule of First Aid
Examine the victim for fractures, especially in the skull, neck, spine, and rib areas.
5th Rule of First Aid
Remove enough clothing to get a clear idea of the extent of the injury.
6th Rule of First Aid
Keep the victim reassured and comfortable.
7th Rule of First Aid
Avoid touching open wounds or burns with your fingers or unsterile objects.
8th Rule of First Aid
Unless contraindicated, position the unconscious or semiconscious victim on his side or back.
9th Rule of First Aid
Always carry a litter patient feet first so that the rear bearer can constantly observe the victim for respiratory distress.

Priority 3- Minor Injuries
Priority 4- Dead or Fatally Injured
