Q

what does successful sampling involve?

A
  • selecting a group of organisms to study which are representative of the population
  • randomly sampling to avoid sample bias
    > eg. choosing sites that are interesting, easy to get to, show greater variation

Q

how could you select a random sample within a field?

A
  • create an x and y axis
  • use a computer to generate random numbers
  • sample at those co-ordinates

the larger the sample, the more reliable the data will be
