105 Chapter 4 - Avionics And Instruments Flashcards
Basic type of flight instruments?
Primary
Engine
Nav
What are the 2 type of instrument sensing?
Direct - tend to be analogue
Remote - tend to be digital
Advantages of digital over analogue?
Reliability
Accuracy
Flexibility
Cost
What are the primary flight instruments?
ASI AI VSI ALT HSI T&S
What is the standard instruments layout?
T shape
Describe T-shape layout
Top left - ASI
Top middle - AI
Top right - Alt
Bottom - HSI
Power + Attitude = ?
Performance
Power + Attitude can effect what?
Speed, direction, altitude
Power and attitude instruments are known as ….. Instruments
Control
Airspeed direction and altitude are know as ….. Instruments
Performance
What are the 2 control instruments?
Power instruments
Attitude indicator
What are the performance instruments?
ASI ALT VSI T&S HSI
What instruments are derived from measurement of pitot and static pressure?
Airspeed
Machmeter
How does a digital flight instrument use pitot and static pressure readings?
Pitot and Static pressure are converted using a transducer to electrical signals which are analysed by the Air Data Computer (ADC) and formatted for display.
Give the direct and indirect indications of each primary flight instruments.
Direct then Indirect ASI - Airspeed - Pitch VSI - Vertical speed - Pitch Altimeter - Altitude - Pitch HSI - Heading - Yaw or Bank Turn indicator - Rate of turn - Bank or Yaw Slip Indicator - Balance - Yaw
