104 Flashcards
Multi-Channel Fulfillment
Selling through multiple channels
▶ You can use your FBA account to make sales
through other storefronts (such as Shopify)
▶ Amazon will directly ship the order to the
customer, even if they ordered elsewhere
(such as Shopify)
▶ Other 3PLs (not just Amazon) will do this too
Prep Center
Prepares your products for fulfillment
▶ Labeling or bundling
▶ Try to have labeling and bundling done at the
factory unless absolutely necessary
▶ For example, if your bundled items are coming
from different manufacturers and being shipped
to the Amazon FC
Prime
Amazon’s subscription membership with
several key benefits
▶ Prime Membership can be purchased at a
monthly or yearly fee
▶ Includes benefits such as free fast shipping,
music & other media, grocery delivery,
discounts at Whole Foods, and more
▶ Free fast shipping is what applies to you as
a seller - Prime members are spoiled
and impatient
Profit margin
your profits after
costs are factored
▶ Selling price less all of your fees and costs
(manufacturing & shipping costs (landed costs),
marketing fees, storage fees, etc.)
▶ This is different from contribution margin,
which is only sales price less cost to make
ROI
Return on Investment
▶ Indicates how quickly your money is
working for you
▶ This is critical, especially because sometimes you
have good profits on a product, but not good ROI
Removal Order
When you have returned inventory shipped
back to you
▶ When a customer returns an item and/or Amazon
decides inventory is unsalable
▶ Turn off automatic removal orders in your
settings, so that Amazon doesn’t ship one or two
packages to you constantly - have them hold
unsalable inventory instead and then ship larger
less frequent quantities back to you
Restricted
Some items are not allowed to be sold
on Amazon
▶ Hazardous goods
▶ Some medical products
SKU
Stock Keeping Unit
▶ This is a code you determine that identifies your
products in your inventory
▶ Amazon will assign one randomly if you don’t
▶ It is better to assign SKUs yourself with a
sequence that makes sense to you
* Especially important for sellers on multiple
platforms/channels
▶ Include variations
Ungated
: Prior permission given
to sell in certain categories
▶ Some categories require permission, such as
most collectibles (i.e. coins, fine art, memorabilia),
automotive parts, etc.
▶ Being “ungated” gives you permission
▶ When starting out, avoid these categories
UPC/EAN
: Universal Product Code/
European Article Number
▶ Unique product identifier that work worldwide
▶ Obtained from 3rd party companies
VAT
Value Added Tax
▶ Depending on the foreign country, different
“taxes” might already be
part of the price
▶ Applies primarily outside of the US
▶ You will have to remit that amount if you are
selling those countries
