7-8 May 1942- fought entirely with aircraft launched from carriers: US and Japs fleet never saw eachother. one jap carrier was damaged and US carrier Yorktown damaged. Broke Jap code

June 4-7 1942- turning point of the war in the pacific. Japs lost 4 carriers and US lost 1 carrier Yorktown
Invasion of Normandy
June 6 1944- largest amphibious operation in history and greatest armada ever assembled.
Creation of EOD
Following the initial German Blitzkreig British EOD had volunteers. between 1941 and 1945 19 classes graduated and deployed throughout the pacific and Mediterranean. Primary mission was to HANDLE, DIFFUSE, AND DISPOSE of munitions and other explosives.
Creation of Navy divers
Emplloyed to SALVAGE, REPAIR SHIPS, CONSTRUCTION WORK, AND IN MILITARY OPERATIONS.
