Define Risk
Expression of possible loss, adverse outcome, or negative consequence such as injury, illness in terms of probability and severity
Define Hazard
Any real or potential condition that can cause injury, illness or death or damage or mission degradation.
Concept of ORM
Decision making tool to increase effectiveness by reducing potential for loss and increasing mission success.
Principles of ORM
Accept risk when benefit outweigh the cost.
Accept no unnecessary risk.,
Anticipate and manage risk by planning
Make risk decisions at the right level.
5 Step process of ORM
IAMIS
Severity Code 1
Loss of ability to accomplish mission. Death or permanent disability.
Loss of mission critical equipment.
Severity Code 2
Significantly degraded mission capability. Permanent partial disability or severe injury. Extensive damage to equpment.
Severity Code 3
Degraded mission capability. Minor damage to equipment, minor injury/illness.
Severity Code 4
Little or no adverse impact on mission cabability.
