25 students asked to list as many specific characteristics or traits as were thought typical of the following groups:

Germans, Italians, Irish, English, “Negroes”, Jews, Americans, Chinese, Japanese and Turks

Picked all traits necessary and listed 5 most typical

Conclusion- racial prejudice is thus a generalised set of stereotypes of a high degree of consistency- led to stereotypes being studied as a legitimate topic of study
