10: environment on epigenetics Flashcards
1
Q
what is folate used for?
A
normal RBC production
2
Q
how does the circadian clock affect epigenetics?
A
in the day:
CLOCK-BMAL1 bind to E-boxes -> period, cryptochrome
period and cryptochrome accumulates -> translocates into nucleus at night -> inhibits CLOCK and BMAL1
3
Q
what does H2A.Z do?
A
a histone variant that is sensitive to temp changes, replaces H2A in nucleosomes
lower temp: wrap DNA more tightly
higher temp: local unwrapping
H2AZ may be more/less stable depending on its histone partner
4
Q
how does H2A.Z get inserted?
A
ARP6 encodes for a subunit in SWR1 which is needed for H2AZ to replace H2A
