Citizen Arrest
A
A private citizen may lawfully arrest someone who has, in fact, already committed a felony. Citizen arrests are not permitted for misdemeanors.

Detentions by Merchants
A
A merchant may detain a shoplifting suspect in a reasonable manner and not for more than a reasonable length of time. (An employee alleging a suspect has committed a shoplifting offense is probable cause to arrest without a warrant)
