What is meant by fostering equality of opportunity?
Offering each child equality of access and opportunities to learn and develop.
What is meant by working in partnership with parents and families?
Sharing information openly with family members about the child’s learning and development
What does being a reflective practitioner mean?
Thinking about their own practise and planning for development.
What is meant by keeping children safe and maintaining a healthy environment?
Enabling the children to feel comfortable and safe in the environment and encouraging a healthy lifestyle and approach to learning.
What is working in partnership with other professionals?
Working with other practitioners is essential for development but should only be carried out with consent.
How do you encourage a child’s learning and development?
Offering them a range of experiences and activities that support all aspects of their development e.g PIES
What is maintaining confidentiality?
Private information about children and parents shouldn’t be shared with others without consent- unless it’s a need to know basis
What does making the welfare of the child paramount mean?
Putting the children first.
Making sure they are always listened to and that their needs and views must always be considered to ensure they grow and develop effectively.
What is valuing diversity?
Understanding the difference between people as a positive. Children should be encouraged to learn about the importance of being unique.
How do you ensure anti discrimination?
Always challenge negative attitudes and prejudices.
