1. Percussion pacing

What is demand mode in a cardiac pacing device and what are its limitations?

  • Demand mode is whereby pacemaker is inhibited if a natural QRS complex occurs
  • Movement artefacts may be misinterpreted as QRS complex and inhibit pacing
