Unique Traits
Individual Differences - traits or characteristics that differentiate or distinguish individuals from others

A persons general style of interacting with others in the world OCEAN - Big Five Openness to experience Conscientiousness Extra version Agreeableness Neuroticism
Self Monitoring
High - fit behaviour to different social situations
Low - Behaviour mostly disregards social situations
Locus of Control
Internal - what happens in my life is decided by internal factors such as motivation, effort and talents
External - Behaviour is decided by different external factors such as fate, luck, family
Narcissism
Tend to be arrogant, have a sense of entitlement, require excessive admiration
Believe they would be great leaders, however are in fact poor
Millennial are “me me me”… ideology
Machiavellianism
Tend to engage in social conduct, including manipulating other people for their own personal gain
Against others self-interest
Can be promoted faster in some situations
What are the types of Personalities
TYPE A - multi tasking/move quickly, impatient, dislike leisure time. Time =money attitude
TYPE B - never suffers from time urgency, plays for fun and relaxation not to win, can relax without guilt
How does personality change and impact on gender?
OCEAN
Openness to experience - generally men are more risk taking
Conscientiousness - women generally higher and this increases with age
Extraversion - women higher
Agreeeableness - women higher
Neuroticism - women a lot higher than men, low emotional stability
Personal Values & Australian Managerial Values
Concept or belief that guide how decisions are made
Examples - equality, compassion, excitement, humility, respect
Managerial Values

Authenticity
What are the five pillars of authentic self
An authentic self can lead to the development of authentic leadership, can lead to positive workplace outcomes
Pillars - Humility/Accountability/Vulnerability/Security/ Integrity
Humility
Willing to learn from others
Has a displayed appreciation of others strengths and contributions
Teachability
Humble managers - increased employee engagement/ increase employee commitment/ reduced employee turnover/increased team performance
Accountability
Ability to take responsibility for your actions, being accountable for what you set
Vulnerability
Willingness to be vulnerable, be open to new experiences and self doubt and fears
