1, pharmacology of asthma Flashcards
1
Q
whats the best vasodilating CCB
A
DHPs e.g. amlodipine (>diltiazem > verapamil)
2
Q
whats the best negatively isotropic CCB
A
verapamil
3
Q
example of a short and long acting nitrate
A
GTN = short
isosorbide dinitrate = long
4
Q
what is the NICE guidelines for stable angina for ongoing prophylaxis
A
- BB OR CCB
- BB + CCB
- BB + CCB + either:
long acting nitrate
ivabradine
nicorandil
ranolazine
5
Q
what do beta blockers do to help angina
A
decreases cardiac contractility i..e negative inotrope
6
Q
what do calcium channel blockers do to help angina
A
increases ARTERIAL vasodilation which reduces after load (which therefore reduces preload)
7
Q
what to nitrates do to help angina
A
VENOdilator
dilates veins = lower CVP = lowers preload (end diastolic pressure)= reduces cardiac wall tension
reduces cardiac o2 demand
