Context:
he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1 John 4:4
Context:
John talks about testing and identifying which spirits are evil and which are from God. Regardless, the spirit in us (the Holy Spirit) is greater than whichever spirit is in the world.
God is love
‘Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. ‘

perfect love casts out fear … We love because he first loved us
‘There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us. ‘
