- Acute onset of symmetric flaccid descending paralysis w/clear sensorium
- no fever
- no paresthesias

Prodrome: 3-5 days:
fever, Conjunctivitis, Coryza, Cough

Exanthematous phase:
1st 24hrs: faint macules behind ears, face, neck, upper arms & chest
2nd 24hrs: back, abdomen, entire arms/ thigh
3-4 days: rash reaches leg and feet –> fading from head to feet –> fine branny desquamation & brownish desquamation
Recovery phase:
temperature rises as rash appears
peak by D2-3 of rashes
infectious 5 days before to 6 days following appearance of rash
