Where is the pituitary gland?
Under the hypothalamus, joined by the infundibulum stalk
Where is the parathyroid?
Near surface of thyroid
Where is the thyroid gland?
In neck, below larynx
Structure of the thyroid gland?
2 lobes either side of the trachea, joined by narrow piece of tissue across the front of the trachea
Where is the Thymus?
Above the heart, behind the sternum
Where are the adrenal glands?
One above each kidney
What are the 2 features of the adrenal glands?
Adrenal cortex
Adrenal medulla
Where is the pancreas?
Below stomach
Alongside duodenum
What does the exocrine pancreas gland secrete?
Digestive enzymes
Where are the ovaries?
Diagonally above the uterus of a female
What do the ovaries do?
Holds and releases eggs for fertilisation
What are the testes and what are they responsible for?
2 sacs containing and responsible for the production of sperm
What are the 2 lobes of the pituitary gland?
Anterior & posterior
What does the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland contain?
Hypophysis portal system - complex network of blood vessels
How is the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland joined to the hypothalamus
