What Constitutes an Emergency? (1)
Any unusual occurrence that precludes a controller from handling the aircraft in the anticipated/normal manner

INCERFA
- A situation wherein UNCERTAINTY exists as to the safety of an aircraft and its occupants
- Max of 30 mins
ALERFA
- A situation wherein APPREHENSION exists as to the safety of an aircraft and its occupants
- Max of 1 hour
DETRESFA -
- A situation wherein there is REASONABLE CERTAINTY that an aircraft and its occupants are threatened by grave and imminent danger or require immediate assistance
- Until survivors found or No chance of doing so
Where and when should Fuel Jettisoning take place and in exceptional circumstances? (7)
- Take place over the sea, away from cities / towns
- Level to be conducted at
- Away from an area thunderstorms have been or expected to be
- 1000ft separation from other A/C
- Above 10,000ft AGL
Exceptionally:
- WINTER - 7000ft AGL
- SUMMER - 4000ft AGL
What are the ICAO threat levels for unruly passengers? (4)
- Level 1 - Disruptive behaviour

- Level 3 - Life-threatening behaviour (or display of a weapon)
- Level 4 - Attempted or actual breach of the flight crew compartment

A condition of being threatened by serious and/or imminent danger and of requiring immediate assistance
What is the definition of Urgency? (1)
A condition concerning the safety of an aircraft or other vehicle, or of some person on board or within sight, but which does not require immediate assistance
