1. Data Flashcards
X-ray
A photograph
A photon
2 dimensional representation of patient
Fluoroscopy
Real time x-ray
Watch patient move
Uses only internal bony anatomy
DRR
Digitally Reconstructed Radiograph
Created from manipulation of CT data into 2 dimensional form
Port film
A hard film X-ray taken on treatment unit of treatment beam
This is old school
EPI or EPID
Electronic portal image taken on the treatment unit
Orthogonal films “orthogs”
Two films taken 90 degrees apart used to locate or represent isocenter
Image matching
Comparing the planned image to daily treatment position images.
Name some simulators used in RT
Fluoroscopic- not used anymore
CT
PET
MRI-future
CT sim
3D planning
Result are DRRs (create a DRR with CT info)
Topogram (scout or pilot) scan is performed to set borders
What are the functions of an immobilization device

What is a contour & why do we need them
A reproduction of an external body shape, it is a 2 dimensional representation of a 3 dimension subject
Provides the planners with a replica of patients body shape to dose accurately and to watch or OARs
