(1)CyberSecurity Objectives Flashcards
What are the three objectives of cybersecurity programs?
The three objectives of cybersecurity are Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability
In the CIA Triad, describe Confidentiality . What do cybersecurity professionals do to maintain confidentiality?
Confidentiality ensures that the wrong people don’t get access to information.
Cybersecurity professionals create and put in place barriers to protect confidentiality such as firewalls, encryption, etc.
in the CIA triad, describe Integrity . What controls help build and maintain Integrity?
Integrity helps prevent un-approved changes to information or systems (either on purpose or not on purpose).
Hashing and other monitoring solutions are put in place to maintain integrity
Describe the threats that may come from attackers or other areas to Integrity
Integrity threats may come from attackers that want to change information without permission.
Nonmalicious sources may be a threat to integrity, such as earthquakes, etc.
In the CIA Triad, describe Availability
What availability controls may be used? Name a few.
What threats are there to availability?
In the CIA Triad, Availability is the concept of making systems and data available for actual users at the specific time that they need the data.
Some availability controls include backups, fault tolerance, and others.
Availability threats could be bad actors wanting to prevent access or non traditional sources such as a power outage or natural disaster
