Q

Mention 7 different techniques with which you can characterise material at the nanoscale. What type of information does each technique provide.

A

Ocean: SEM, TEM, X-ray diffractie, electron diffraction, IR/Raman/UV/Vis spectroscopy, NMR, gas and Hg adsoprtion. SEM: surface down to 1 nm TEM: crystal structure X-ray: crystal, amorpheus, distorted crystal electron: same as X-ray? IR, Raman: crystal structure, atom environment NMR: atom environment Gas adsorption: micro and mesopores Hg porosometry: size and volume of meso/macropores
