Polyethers
Silicones
What are examples of irreversible hydrocolloid?
Alginate
Salts of alganic acid
Diatomaceous earth
Cacium sulfate
Potassium alginate

Sodium phosphate
What material has the highest percent of irreversible hydrocolloid?
Diatomaceous earth
What are examples of reactors that are irreversible hydrocolloid?
Calcium sulfate
Potassium alginate
What is an example of an irreversible hydrocolloid that influences setting time?
Zinc oxide
What is an example of an irreversible hydrocolloid that ensures a dense, hard stone cast surface?
Potassium titanium fluoride
What is an example of an irreversible hydrocolloid that is a retarder?
Sodium phosphate
What is a filler which increases strength and stiffness and produces a smooth texture?
Diatomaceous earth
What are the two types of impression trays?
Stock and custom
What kind of impression tray varies in sizes and materials?
Stock
What kind of impression tray is fabricated on a patient’s cast?
Custom
What should you add to the periphery of the stock trays prior to the impression?
Rope wax
What are the steps of taking a max. alginate impression?
- Size correct tray; modify borders with wax if needed
- Have patient wipe palate with gauze to remove viscous saliva
- mix thoroughly - 45 sex
- load tray and set aside
- preload palatal vault with material
- Seat imp. tray while retracting lips/cheeks to prevent trapping air in vestibules
- hold tray very still in mouth approx. 3 minutes
- remove in one firm motion
- inspect, rinse, disinfect with contact
time = 10 minutes
rinse before pouring
What are 7 things the max. preliminary impression should include?
- Residual ridge
- buccal and labial vestibules
- frenal attachments
- fovea palatinae and vibrating line
- palate
- tuberosities
- hamular notches
