Social contract
Society living in accordance with an agreement that establishes moral and political rules of behaviours that encourages self regulation and reduced unprofessional violations
Professionalism
Having specific skills, knowledge and expertise that benefits society. A promise to use this expertise always and without exception
Fiduciary
A person who has a legal and moral relationship with one or more individuals. The Patient interests should be held above the practitioner
Virtue of care
The moral excellence or qualities needed to meet the aims of care
Boundary setting and maintenance
The doctor has a power differential, they need to maintain this differential and establish a professional relationship
Fitness to practice
Having the skill, knowledge, and character to practice your profession whilst doing no harm
Burnout
The increased risk of impairment and addiction, impaired judgement, substandard treatment, and patient harm.
Caused by excessive emotional, physical, and mental stress.
Floor and ceiling:
Floor: The chiropractor will advocate for the highest standard of care, whilst putting the patients interests first
Ceiling: The GCC protects the public by articulating where the line is, leading to self regulation which is part of the social contract.
