1 Flashcards
Hyperpnea
Increased alveolar ventilation, Respiration Rate & Depth (VT) due to exercise but doesn’t change blood chemistry
WHAT IS OXYGEN DEBT
The amount of extra oxygen needed by muscle tissue to reconvert lactic acid into glucose & ATP during Anaerobic respiration in vigorous exercise.
Dyspnea
Shortness of Breath
Orthopnea
Discomfort in breathing (dyspnea) that is brought on or aggravated by lying flat.
Types of Cough
Acute, subacute & chronic
Productive & non-productive (dry)
Pleurisy
Or PLEURITIS is an inflammation of the membrane that surrounds and protects the lungs (the pleura).
Hypoxemia vs Hypoxia
Hypoxemia is a decrease in the partial pressure of oxygen in the blood
Hypoxia is the reduced level of tissue oxygenation
Tachypnea
Increased Respiratory rate
