postural (orthostatic) hypotension

A
  • blood pools in lower extremities, reflex constricts lower vessels. During this hypotension, the reflex doesn’t work so blood pressure drops in the head
  • major adverse effect of alpha receptor antagonists bc they interfere with the reflex
