Description:
Contains:
154mEq per L of Na+
154 mEq per L of Cl-
(Concentration near that of blood so solution is considered isotonic)

Mechanism of Action:
Replaces water and electrolytes in body
0.9% Sodium Chloride (Normal Saline)
Indications:
Non-cardiogenic shock
Burns
Volume depleted pts (dehydrated, DKA, Hyperthermia)
0.9% Sodium Chloride (Normal Saline)
Contraindications:
NONE
0.9% Sodium Chloride (Normal Saline)
Precautions:
Use caution in CHF and Renal Failure Pts
If large amounts are needed consider LR to avoid other electrolyte depletion

Maintain SBP of 100
3L of NS = 1L of Blood
Hang on blood product “Y” of 10gtts
