What is the PSED?
An act that places obligations on authorities to advance equality and diversity
What is unconscious bias?
Bias or prejudice we are not aware of
What is direct discrimination?
When one person is treated less favourably than another because of a protected characteristic
What is indirect discrimination?
When a practice applies to everyone but people with a certain characteristic are at a disadvantage
What is harassment?
Unwanted conduct that has the purpose of creating an intimidating or offensive environment for the individual.
What is victimisation?
Victimisation occurs when someone is treated less favourably because they have made a complaint
What are the two forms of direct discrimination?
Discrimination by association
Discrimination by perception
What is positive discrimination?
Favouring one group of people who share a positive characteristic over another regardless of merit
