05 Internet Flashcards
1
Q
Why is an IP-address built up of the range of 0-255?
A
- four number seperated by dots
- each number 0-255 (256 different possibilities)
- 2^8 = 256
- in total 2^32 possibilities
2
Q
What were if IP addresses did not exist?
A
- all kind of communication via internet not possible
- bits/bytes transferred via IP from computer to computer
3
Q
Difference IP and Domain-address?
A
- usually one IP connected to one internet address (or vice versa)
- sometimes two domain can be connected to the same IP, e.g. when a company is internationally searchable (de.com)
- fh-aachen, ilias, qis -> are three domains on the same hardware
4
Q
What would be a situation where severl domain addresses are assigned to one IP-address?
A
- when many websites are hosted on the same server and share the same IP address
- e.g. ilias, fh-aachen abd campus office are three domain on the same hardware
- e.g. when you conntect 1000 domains to 20 computers because everyone in your company wants an own domain
5
Q
What would be a situation where one domain address is assigned to several IP addresses?
1.
2.
A
- as a backup in case one goes down
- when you want to have higher performance, e.g. google, many people using it
6
Q
What are the advantages of layered architecture?
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
A
- you can add more layers if theres a problem in the other
- if certain parts are faced with problems, the others arent affected
- independence between layers, easier to modify each one
- e.g. applications: you can just put it “on top” for others to use it, enterprise arcitecture or operating systems
- scalability!! - adding or removinf without affecting
7
Q
What is scalable?
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
A
- sth. that is upgradable, has potential to grow
- ability of a system to increase papacity as needed to meet growinng demands
- e.g. FH aachen: internationalization, campus expansion, research
- exceeded: data loss, security risks
- under cut: wasted resources (hardware software), reduced efficiency, increaseed costs
8
Q
What are the advantages and disadvantages of distributed development?
A
- access to remote resources
- increased flexibility (adapting to needs, responding to opportunities independently)
-
9
Q
Perfect Competition and Internet
1.
2.
3.
4.
A
- increased market accessibility - wider reach on a global market, increases competition
- reduced barriers to entry
- improved transparancy (easily get info about competitiors)
- lower transcation costs bc efficient exchange of goods and services, less costs to search for these goods and services
