Difference IP and Domain-address?

A
  • usually one IP connected to one internet address (or vice versa)
  • sometimes two domain can be connected to the same IP, e.g. when a company is internationally searchable (de.com)

Q

What would be a situation where severl domain addresses are assigned to one IP-address?

A
  • when many websites are hosted on the same server and share the same IP address
  • e.g. ilias, fh-aachen abd campus office are three domain on the same hardware
  • e.g. when you conntect 1000 domains to 20 computers because everyone in your company wants an own domain

Q

What are the advantages of layered architecture?

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

A
  • you can add more layers if theres a problem in the other
  • if certain parts are faced with problems, the others arent affected
  • independence between layers, easier to modify each one
  • e.g. applications: you can just put it “on top” for others to use it, enterprise arcitecture or operating systems
  • scalability!! - adding or removinf without affecting

Q

What is scalable?

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

A
  • sth. that is upgradable, has potential to grow
  • ability of a system to increase papacity as needed to meet growinng demands
  • e.g. FH aachen: internationalization, campus expansion, research
  • exceeded: data loss, security risks
  • under cut: wasted resources (hardware software), reduced efficiency, increaseed costs
