错题 Flashcards
Why is major organic product more stable than minor
It has a greater number of alkyl group bonded to the C showing largest inductive effect.
why does N2 not behave as an ideal gas at very high pressure
Particles are forced to be together therefore increased intermolecular force. Molecule’s volume will no longer be negligible
Why does lithium sulfide have a high melting point( explain in terms of the structure)
It has a giant structure which there will be many strong ionic bonds
A sample of BaBr2 is dissolved in water. Chlorine gas is then bubbled into the solution .
Describe the observations for this reaction:
Solution will turn from colorless to brown due to bromine.
Predict the effect of using 2-chloro-2-methylpropane compared to 2-bromo-2-methylpropane on the time taken for the pink colour to disappear. Explain your answer
- Chlorine is a bad leaving group as it has a smaller atomic radius than bromine. This means that chlorine has a higher electron density which makes it a stronger base than bromine as it will attract protons easier. This will cause the pink color to take longer to disappear
Name two physical property typical of ceramic materials
Strong
High melting points
SiCl4 + H2O
Observations:
SiCl₄ + 2H₂O → SiO₂ + 4HCl
Misty fumes + white solid (SiO₂)
Which two group 2 compounds can produce gas when heated and what gases are produced
Metal Carbonates - CO2
Metal Nitrates - NO2 + O2
Difference between elimination and oxidation reaction
Elimination removes an hydrogen AND a group (e.g. OH)
Oxidation only removes hydrogen from the compound
In nucleophilic substitution, does bromoalkane react faster or iodoalkane
Iodoalkane as it has a longer bond length therefore the bond is very weak, so faster reaction will happen.
