About FNP on Brainscape
What is an FNP?
Family nurse practitioners (FNP) are advanced practice registered nurses. They are nurses who have a graduate-level education, in addition, to clinical training in family medicine. Just like doctors, they are qualified to diagnose and prescribe medications.
FNP’s work in many settings including residential homes, doctor’s offices, clinics, schools, and hospitals. FNP’s with a talent for management may go on to become hospital administrators or policy-makers.
You can find out more about becoming an FNP at The American Association of Nurse Practitioners or The International Council of Nurse Practitioners. Or why not join Nurse Lada as she describes her first year as a nurse practitioner?
